What our parents say
Roger Stocker, parent of a King's Magna pupil and a College student
What has impressed me about QE is the support provided for each individual child, which allows them to reach their full potential whatever their abilities. Compared to our last school, things just happen without you needing to ask. By breaking the Collegiate into smaller schools there seems to be a far closer relationship between the teachers and their individual students.
Anita York, parent of a King's Magna pupil and a College student
If I ever think an issue needs addressing I find out that the staff have got there before me and have already started work on it. The facilities are unbelievable and I feel very lucky that my children have been fortunate enough to attend such a happy, inspiring and caring school as QE.
Michelle Duff, parent of a King's Magna pupil and a Chapter House pupil
What I think makes the school stand out is the pastoral care. The children and parents have a great sense of belonging. There is a relaxed approach to parents and nothing is too much trouble. If we have ever had any issues, we have been able to see the teacher straight away and the matter or concern is dealt with in a positive and professional manner. Our children are very happy at QE and to us that is the best basis for learning and achieving.
Yvonne Clark, parent of a College student
It is difficult to encapsulate in a few sentences all the things we like about QE, but there are three key areas. Firstly, pastoral care, which for us was the most important consideration. Boarding at QE is like a 'home from home' and there is a strong family feeling throughout the school. Secondly, QE has excellent teachers who help students to achieve their academic goals in a positive learning environment. Thirdly, the Collegiate has fantastic facilities and a proactive strategy of reinvesting profits back into the school for the benefit of students and staff alike. Whatever your child's academic abilities QE can help them realise their full potential, they did for mine.
Gail Taylor, parent of a College student
Our daughter has settled in very well and feels very much part of the QE family. Teachers listen to what she has to say and she is comfortable in expressing her opinions and feels a valued individual. The facilities at the school are very impressive and our daughter has been well supported by the boarding staff, who make very good surrogate parents.
Reinhard Lang, parent of a Faculty student
We live in Germany and went to look at a selection of boarding schools in England. Directly after finishing each visit there was only one consistent opinion issued by the whole family – 'There is no other school to compare with Queen Ethelburga's!' QE is an “other level of school” and plays in its own league. It would be wrong to highlight something particularly because it is the whole experience which is different to other schools. Back at home in Germany we hoped to get the acceptance letter and when it came we were so pleased. We are happy, thankful and proud that our son is a student at QE.
